Father Joseph Brando will have served as a priest of the Diocese of Knoxville/Nashville for 35 years as of June 3, 2007. He holds a Doctor of Ministry from Drew University. He is retired from the United States Army in which he served as a Chaplain. Among his assignments in the Army were tours in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait (Desert Storm), Bosnia, and Kosovo. He has served as pastor in Cleveland, Alcoa, Morristown, OLPH in Chattanooga, and McEwen all in Tennessee. He was Director of Family Life for the Diocese of Nashville from 1980-1983. For the past 15 years he has been writing a column on the Sunday Scripture readings for the East Tennessee Catholic, our Diocesan newspaper.
