Giving life to those in Need
In a moment of spirit and loving enthusiasm, St. Jude staff committed
to the Heifer International
program.
Beginning September 15 and continuing through Catholic Schools Week,
St. Jude Staff will lead students in a variety of activities to help
end hunger for 30 needy families around the world.
Watch for more information to follow, but please take the time to
thank all staff members, and especially the following committee members,
who have stepped up to make a difference: Lucinda Millard, Beverly
Fazio, Kyra Ross, Loraine Torrence, Kathie Etherton, Katie Leahy, Brandi
Harlan, Barb Dubois and Nora Montieth.
As the late teacher and astronaut, Christa McAuliffe once said, “I
touch the future, I teach.” Our teachers touch
the futures of our children and our world…THANK YOU!

We Will Make a Difference!
Using Marian Wright Edelman’s book, “I Can Make a Difference” as
a guide, St. Jude School has adopted “I Can Make a Difference” as
its character education theme for the 2006 – 2007 school year.
Outlining a series of 12 value principles, the book teaches that
it is both a privilege and an obligation to try to make life better,
even if we don’t always succeed.
With values ranging from the Golden Rule to the importance of honesty,
every student will have the chance to learn and live the principle.
Every student will be given a laminated key, imprinted with the value
they are presently studying. It is our belief that at the end of
the year, this set of keys can help the student change the world
in which they live – even if it is in one small step at a time.
I Can Make a Difference
By Marion Wright Edelman
I can make a difference by . . . . .
. .
loving myself
and others as God loves us and treating others respectfully and fairly.
-
being courageous.
-
aiming high and holding on to my ideals.
-
caring and serving.
-
being honest
and telling the truth.
-
persevering and
not giving up.
-
being determined and
resourceful.
-
being grateful for the
fit and wonders of life.
-
working together
with others.
-
being compassionate and
kind.
-
being nonviolent and
working for peace.
-
being faithful and struggling for what
I believe.
