The Good News in Education

Catholic Schools Week kicked off with a bang on Sunday, January 28. Parishioners were invited to an Open House following the 12:15 mass. Refreshments were provided by the teachers and staff of St. Jude School in appreciation for the stewardship and support that is continually offered to the school.

Teacher Swap

Students were greeted with some surprise visitors when they arrived for class on Monday! Teachers in all grade levels swapped for the chance to teach an older or younger class. Students had a blast and teachers were inspired - it was a great way to begin Catholic Schools Week.

Teacher Appreciation

St. Jude teachers and staff were treated to a lovely lunch in honor of the Teacher Appreciation celebration. Food was prepared by Mrs. Ervin, decorations were set up by parent, Rhonda Barkeloo-Carter and lunch duty was offered by the Home and School Association. Thank you for the special attention!

Student Appreciation Day

We are so fortunate to have almost 400 students at St. Jude, each a wonderful individual, full of unique talent and inspiration. Today we celebrate you and all that you do!!!

Country Villages
Students, after passing through U.S. Customs to receive their passport, had the opportunity to visit various booths, created and manned by the classes. These booths represented countries or American regions that the students assisted through their efforts in the Heifer Project. Each village displayed art or decor native to that region and many gave away a treat or goodie that would be served in that particular area, everything from maize muffins, Egyptian bread and honey, Russian cookies and Peruvian pound cake.

Carnival

Students were also hosts and participants at a carnival, held in the gym of the Family Life Center. Activities included bowling, golf, bean bag toss and face painting...

St. Jude Students - Your are awesome!! We are so proud of you!

Service Day

All school mass kicked off a blustery service day with members of the always enthusiastic 5th grade choir providing musical leadership! At the end of mass, Mrs. Fazio announced the final total for the Heifer Project as $6849.

Many classes held special projects to raise money for the project and by now, many needy families throughout the world have received assistance as a direct result of the efforts of St. Jude School.

During religion period, individual classes did special projects for area nursing homes. Projects included Valentines Day cards and hand made placemats. 6th grade was host to residents of the Red Bank Life Care Center. Guests enjoyed refreshments, musical entertainment and a Bingo game.

St. Jude School extends a HUGE thank you to Katie Leahy, Donna Picard, Kyra Ross, Chris Sapala, Loraine Torrence, Jason Hill and the MANY individuals who helped make this Catholic Schools Week so special.

We are proud to say that Catholic Schools really are ... The Good News in Education!
