The Holy Spirit is alive at St. Jude in Chattanooga

The newly revitalized Council of Catholic Women is doing amazing things at St. Jude. Under the leadership of new SJCCW President Cathy Palisoc, we have recently sponsored five successful events enjoyed by the parish and school. These events support our initial goals of creating a more welcoming environment for new families and promoting a great working relationship between the parish and the school. The Newcomers Reception was held in conjunction with St. Jude School and the Home and School Association. New parishioners were greeted by SJCCW members and presented with a goody bag from the parish. Light refreshments were served and families had the opportunity to greet each other.

The parish enjoyed a Welcome Dinner for new members on Saturday, September 8th. SJCCW volunteers coordinated the dinner and provided a wonderful opportunity for fellowship. St. Jude parishioners honored our Blessed Mother with an International Rosary on October 25th. Each decade was presented in various languages, expressing the spiritual unity of groups with different ethnic backgrounds. The St. Jude School third grade class participated in the musical liturgy, with music provided by Emmaus. Attendees provided an international buffet dinner immediately following the celebration featuring foods from all over the world. A Bake Sale Fundraiser took place on October 27th and 28th, with proceeds funding future SJCCW projects. President Cathy Palisoc shared, I am so touched by the talent and generosity shown by the many active members of the CCW. There were many ladies that I have not even met before - it was beautiful to watch the love pouring in through the donations of time, talent and treasure.

Our priests were honored with a special lunch on November 1st to celebrate World Priest Day and Father Joes birthday. Father Joe and Father David were presented with Top Ten Reasons why we love our Priests lists. As part of the celebrations, CCW volunteers and their children distributed a World Priests Day Prayer during the masses on October 27th and 28th . For information on how you can become involved with this wonderful organization, contact the St. Jude Church office at 423-870-2386 or Cathy Palisoc at cathy.palisoc@comcast.net.

All ladies of the parish are invited to attend the next general meeting of the SJCCW on Friday, November 30th from 1pm to 3pm in the Harwood Room.
